An Ash Wednesday service in Renown’s Spiritual Center will be officiated by Father Joseph Infante. He will offer ashes following the service.
In consideration of Covid-19 precautions, the chaplain or minister sprinkles the ashes on each person’s forehead or scalp without direct contact. The person receiving the ashes may mark a cross on their own foreheads if they wish.

Every year at the beginning of Lent, Christians are offered a heart-felt plea from a merciful and compassionate God: “Return to me with your whole heart!” (Joel 2:12)
Traditionally, Lent is a discipline of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. It is a journey of faith, preparing Christians for Holy Week and Easter. It lasts forty days, recalling Israel’s forty years in the wilderness, and Jesus’ forty days in the desert. It is a time of personal conversion, an invitation to encounter God and Christ in the poor, and to respond with justice, mercy and compassion.
Please Note: These services are being offered for all staff, admitted patients and their families that are already at the hospital. Masks and 6-foot social distancing will be required for all participants. For the 3 p.m. service, you can attend virtually or in person (there will be 10-attendee maximum observed inside the Spiritual Center.)
