Traditionally February is the month for lovers and all things heart shaped. But February also reminds us to take care of our beating hearts. Get to know your heart health and risk factors by listening to expert Dr. Christopher Rowan, medical director of Renown Cardiovascular Research and clinical cardiologist with the Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health.
One risk factor you might not have considered is an inherited defect called Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH), a disorder that causes your LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels to be very high. Renown is pioneering the way for diagnosing this condition by offering No Cost Genetic Testing through the Healthy Nevada Project to all Nevadans.
The Healthy Nevada Project will be on-site to offer this industry leading research study to attendees. Renown’s Institute for Heart & Vascular Health and Institute for Neurosciences will also host a booth with heart and stroke education. If you would like to participate in the Healthy Nevada Project during this event, you will need to have access to an email address and refrain from eating or drinking 30 minutes prior to providing a saliva sample.
