SUMMARY:Pregnancy and Birth - 7 Week Thursday Virtual Series
DESCRIPTION:Class fee includes partner. \nThis 7-week childbirth preparation\, which also includes preparing for postpartum\, infant care and breastfeeding education\, meets for seven consecutive weeks. This class will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth and beyond. In addition\, this class provides a safe forum to ask questions and help you make informed decisions about key issues surrounding your baby’s birth. \nWeeks 1-5 will include topics such as: \n\nHealthy developments in your pregnancy\nStages of labor\nWarning signs\nBreathing and relaxation techniques\nComfort measures\nRole of the support person and labor support\nBirth planning\nHow to tell when you are in labor\nPain relief options during labor/medical procedures\nHow a birth doula can help\nCesarean birth\n\nWeek 6: During the Newborn Care segment\, newborn appearances and behavior\, daily care of the newborn\, signs of illness\, and when to call the doctor. Additionally\, we’ll cover tummy time\, comfort and soothing techniques\, how to keep your baby safe\, newborn screenings and vaccinations. \nWeek 7: You will learn breastfeeding benefits and techniques\, the physiology of making milk\, positioning and latch\, how to know baby is getting enough milk\, keeping up your milk supply\, where to go for help\, and learn about our lactation consultants and breastfeeding forums. Pump rentals and a visit to our Lactation Connection resource center are included in this class. \nPlease note: This class also includes a Baby and Family Suites Tour. \nOur certified instructors will offer you support and guidance via education in a unique way that will meet your individual needs. \nWe believe that childbirth is a process\, not a method\, and we recognize that there is no one right way to give birth.\nTo attend\, please register using the expecting mother’s name and information. \nIf this class is sold out and you need to take a class please email Chris.Marlo@Renown.org or leave a message at 775-982-4352.

DESCRIPTION:Led by Renown’s Bariatric Program Manager\, this group connects you with peers and leaders so you can support\, coach\, encourage and lean on one another when you need it most. \nWhether you are facing post-surgery challenges or thinking about weight loss surgery and want to learn more about the client’s perspective or help reluctant family and friends better understand the process\, attending this support group meeting can be invaluable. \nThis support group is an excellent resource where you’ll find people who share your health and wellness goals. We are devoted to people with everyday experiences\, sharing their feelings in a safe environment\, and developing relationships that can contribute to improved physical and emotional health. We’ve found that our most successful clients attend support groups regularly. \nVideo enabled attendance is available. Patients can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smart phone\, iPad\, laptop\, or webcam/desktop). Upon registering\, you will receive instructions on how to virtually connect. \nThere is no charge to attend this class.
